Cup Sleeve Illustrations

OVERVIEW

For this project, I was assigned with learning a new design-relevant skill by creating original work for 30 minutes per day over 30 days.

Prior to this assignment, I had never used Adobe Illustrator before and found it quite intimidating. I decided to experiment with the pen tool to design illustrations that could be used on coffee sleeves. I chose coffee sleeves because they tend to be bland and boring and could easily be spiced up. I went on Pinterest and decided to start a collection of things that inspired me, I then went through and selected what I wanted to illustrate. I started out simple with the pink and yellow sunset being my first one, focusing on understanding the basics of the pen tool. As time went on, it was evident I became more comfortable as I could illustrate more in less time, leading to more details and layers in later illustrations.

While each sleeve is special on its own, I think the series demonstrates growth, and makes the viewer look at their boring coffee sleeves in a new way.
